Mercer Music at Capricorn ringing in new year with Macon’s First Friday

MACON, Ga. — A month into its grand re-opening, Mercer Music at Capricorn invites you to celebrate the year’s inaugural First Friday at their studio in downtown Macon.

First Friday celebrations will include free live music, guided tours of the renovated Capricorn Sound Studios, and beer and wine.

From 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. the Bozwellz will perform in Studio B, and Rock Candy Tours will offer guided tours for groups up to 10 people for $12 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. You can also get a museum-only tour pass for $7.

The 20,000-square-foot facility includes the renovated historic recording space, a studio that can suit orchestral recording and film scoring, space for live music, a museum, and a music incubator with 12 rehearsal rooms.

The Capricorn Museum’s normal operating hours are Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Guided studio tours will be available at 10 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The museum will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.
