AJC.com: Allman Brothers Band 50th anniversary celebrated with massive box set
The 50th anniversary of The Allman Brothers Band will be celebrated not only in concert, but with a massive box set as well.
“Trouble No More: 50th Anniversary Collection” – available as 10 LPs, five CDs and digitally – will be released Feb. 28 and include seven previously unreleased tracks, live performances and rarities. (Check out the full track listing below.)
Also included – the band’s first recording in 1969 of the Muddy Waters song that gives the set its name.
The collection is arranged chronologically and thematically, with representation of all 13 lineups of ABB, and is also divided by the group’s recording history on the Capricorn, Arista and Epic record labels, as well as the band’s own Peach imprint.
While that previously unreleased demo of “Trouble No More” opens the box set, a live performance of the song from ABB’s final show at New York’s Beacon Theatre brings the retrospective full circle at the end.
As previously reported, the legacy of The Allman Brothers Band will receive a live salute on March 10 at Madison Square Garden with members including Jaimoe, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks and Chuck Leavell honoring the band’s musical history.
