New Trailer For ‘Jimmy Carter Rock & Roll President’ Features Bob Dylan, Gregg Allman, Willie Nelson, & More
Greenwich Entertainment has released the trailer for Jimmy Carter Rock & Roll President, which features musicians Bob Dylan, Gregg Allman, Willie Nelson, and many more. The film will explore President Carter’s tenure in the West Wing and how his love for music provided him with an unexpected edge in bridging racial, generational, and partisan divides.
Created by director Mary Wharton, producer Chris Farrell, and writer Bill Flanagan, the film chronicles the role that music played in propelling an unknown presidential candidate from Georgia to the White House, and the impact it had on his life and work. In addition to intimate interviews with Carter, the documentary features a cast of contributors including Nelson, Dylan, Bono, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Jimmy Buffett, Roseanne Cash, Chuck Leavell, Paul Simon, Andrew Young, and Madeline Albright. Furthermore, it will also include rare, archival, era-defining live performances from Nelson, Buffett, Simon, Dylan, and others.
The trailer compiles clips of the interviews, performances, and other archival footage, and includes some interesting quips from President Carter. At one point, Carter reflects on a story Nelson told in his book, It’s A Long Story: My Life. In the book, Nelson talks about how he once smoked a joint in the White House with a staff member while visiting President Carter. President Carter added another layer to the story, claiming it was, in fact, his son who smoked with Nelson.
Greenwich Entertainment will release Jimmy Carter Rock & Roll President in theaters and virtual cinemas on September 7th. It will then have a home entertainment release via CNN on October 9th. Check out the trailer below and head to the Greenwich Entertainment website for more information.
