The Tree Man: Famed rock pianist coming to Ponte Vedra Concert Hall
Music venues come in all shapes and sizes, and Chuck Leavell has played most of them.
Leavell, who plays at the newly renovated Ponte Vedra Concert Hall on Sept. 17, spent the mid-’70s playing piano for the Allman Brothers Band at a time when they were one of the biggest acts in the world and has been the touring keyboardist and music director for the Rolling Stones since the early ’80s. He also led his own band, Sea Level. Remember Eric Clapton’s 1992 “MTV Unplugged” shows? That’s Leavell on piano. He’s played at theaters, amphitheaters, arenas, festivals and stadiums around the world.
